Of course it's of general interest -- not the specifics of Eric's
problem, but the relationship between client / employer demands and the
tools we use to measure our "performance". (I shouldn't say it, but this
is one reason why English-language usage -- and variations thereof --
aren't really off topic.) We are like management theorists of fifty
years ago, or organisational psychologists of thirty years ago: we are
preaching to people who are very reluctant to become converted. Any
information about the shortcomings or ambiguities of our tools is
relevant -- desperately so.
