Although participation on TECHWR-L shows some devotion to one's craft,
TECHWR-L is not a "professional society." TECHWR-L doesn't even begin to
match the credentials of something like an STC.

I suppose this begs the question "What is a professional society?" But
that's not a topic for TECHWR-L.
