Hey, guys...

You wouldn't believe the amount of help I received when I presented this question. Thanks everyone

The replies I received covered everything from how to create simple ASCII files and convert them to UNIX to how to use vi, to how man pages are formatted.

I discussed this issue with some of my UNIX guys here in the department and this is what I've decided.

First, I was turned on to a book written by AT&T Bell Telephone Laboratories dating back to 1980 called "UNIX Text Editing & Phototypesetting Starter Package".

With this book, which includes a tutorial, I'm on my way to learning to "understand" TROFF (sigh).

Next, I have access to the original troff files for the man pages currently on my network.

I'll be picking one of them with a format I'm happy with, and hopefully use it as a template where I can change the body text as needed.

Hopefully, this will result in pages that everyone here is happy with.

My opinions are mine, and neither you nor my company can take credit for them.

HEY! Are you coming to the NJ TechWriter lunch? So far, about 10
of us are. Ask me about it.
