Summary: Standard Editing process

Thanks to all who contributed on this topic.
The general concensus seems to be that there
is no standard editing process; that the following
books: "Technical Editing: The Practical Guide for
Editors and Writers" by Judith A. Tarutz and
"Managing Documentation Projects." by JoAnn
Hackos have excellent advice on the ideal process;
that the client is always right, :-) but that the process
I was suggesting might be more efficient.

This particular client is very keen on "restricted
vocabulary" or Controlled English, but is not
interested in implementing any of the systems
currently on the market. I think it's overkill for
such a small volume and group. Is anybody
using such a system? Any comments?

TIA,
Best
Sarah
