Ah, this is a good cross-disciplinary question that covers everything from
Commodore-64s , VW Beetles, Avionics and Telecommunications Terminals, to
chemical lab equipment.

If it ain't in the parts list, it's the one that's gonna break: some poor
Snuffy is going to track the trouble down to that part, fail to find it in
the manual, ask The Sarge, get no answer, redline the equipment, and wait
for several months till the vendor comes back and tells 'em it's "Depot
Level Only."

Depot is not going to accept the equipment for repair because "Widget,
Framistatic, Left-Threaded, Three Prong, 55volts, one each" was removed
by unauthorized personnel (Hey, somebody must have
dropped/crashed/abused/monkeyed with the equipment and tried to kick it up
the line so they could get free widgets).

It's a gig on the Inspector General's report, because "everybody knows"
that widget is Depot Level Only.

So, before the luser operators kick a bigger problem up the line and start
complaining about those pogue bench-techs who exert more time and effort
*not* fixing things, and vice-versa, maybe ya oughtta put that in the
troubleshooting procedures *and* the parts list. "*NOTICE: do not remove
the three-pronged framistatic widget shown in View 'E' . This item can
only be serviced at depot-level facilities.*"
