Here's some advice I've been given regarding resumes:

From a resume writing expert - Don't include an objective on your resume.
It takes up valuable space and you state your objective in your cover
letter.

From the owner of a contract agency - Send 2-page resumes to contract
agencies. They want to have a good understanding of your skills before they
call you for an interview.

From an HR person at a large corporation - Send a 1-page resume in response
to a job advertisement in a newspaper. Respond to the key requirements
mentioned in the ad in your cover letter. The HR people sort through the
resumes before they pass them on to the hiring manager, and the HR people
spend about 20-30 seconds on each resume.
