Try importing graphics _by reference_, rather than copying them into the
file. This will make the file a lot smaller and easier to handle. (Use
File>Import>File, then select "Import By Reference" rather than "Copy Into
File". This just puts a link to the graphic in the FrameMaker file.) One
advantage is that if you update the graphic, it automatically gets updated
everywhere it is used in the FrameMaker file. One disadvantage is that if
you move or rename the graphic file, you will have to repoint FrameMaker to
it.

You can toggle the display of graphics on and off (via "ESC v v"). Turning
them off will speed things up a lot. (Remember to turn them back on again
before you print!)
