They say that the Japanese expect to be led by hints and
anecdotes to discover for themselves how to do things, rather
than to be told directly.
They say that the Germans expect to have the context of
an issue expounded, and everything put into perspective,
before the issue itself is addressed.
I have no idea how well these stereotypes stand up to today's
reality, but they do go deeper than a cultural reaction to
a particular symbol or color.
