I'm still accepting resumes and cover letters for the following position.
Let me clarify a few items:
-This is an ENTRY-LEVEL job.
-The salary stated is the STARTING salary, not the salary range for the
position, which goes much higher.
Your technical communication skills are the most important factor to me.
That should be a refreshing change for tyro tech writers trying to find
work through agencies, some of which consider only tool skills. If you are
a recent graduate or newly transitioned to the field, and you'd like to
work in Los Angeles, I'd like to hear from you.
----------------------------
Company: XonTech, Inc.
Position: Associate Documentation Specialist
Status: Staff position
Location: Los Angeles, near the Los Angeles Airport
Annual Starting Salary: low- to mid-30s
Starts: Immediately
-----------------------------
XonTech is a fast-growing, nationally recognized aerospace R&D firm seeking
an Associate Documentation Specialist to grow with us. We want a motivated,
energetic individual who is excited about being challenged and acquiring
new skills.

You'll work in a small-company atmosphere with one other documentation
specialist. At first, your responsibilities will include the editing and
desktop publishing of existing material. Then, as you learn more about our
products and services, you'll coordinate documentation projects and help
refine our documentation process. You'll work closely with engineers,
analysts, and programmers to produce a variety of documents. Upcoming
projects require engineering documentation, end-user documentation,
technical proposals, and intranet content.

The ideal candidate has:
- A degree in technical communication or a related field
- Outstanding oral, written, and visual communication skills
- Experience in editing technical documentation (internship or classroom)
- The ability to pick up tools and technical concepts quickly
- The ability to work independently
- The ability to organize and set priorities
- Some experience with Windows 95/NT, Word, FrameMaker, and a graphics
package (Visio, CorelDRAW, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Flexibility-although our small-company environment creates the
opportunity to work on a variety of projects, it also means that we all
must be a "jack of all trades" from time to time

Although the work is on site, you'll enjoy flexible work hours, a casual
dress code, and an excellent benefits package, including profit sharing and
401(k) plans. U.S. citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be
subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements for access to classified information.

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a cover letter and resume. Local
candidates preferred.

Regards,
Lisa Priester
