Personally, I'd try for a separate department. Most organizations, I
find,
have a department that bridges the gaps between others, and a
communications
or writing department could easily be the one.

However, there's a lot to be said for keeping both your job and
department
undefined as long as possible. If nobody's quite sure where you
fit in, you're far more likely to get interesting assignments.
