I don't think I explained myself adequately. You only need one
sequence descriptor, as long as you only have one series of numbering
going on at once. You use the same sequence descriptor for all, but
when you've finished one and want to restart, you use the same old
sequence descriptor with the numbering forced to number 1.

The field code for the first one would look like {seq "example" \r 1}
and subsequent ones would look like {seq "example"}. You could start
a new numbering sequence by reusing the first field code any time.
That's why I suggested saving the two codes as autotext -- because
they're reusable.

This is essentially the same solution that FrameMaker uses, except
that in the case of Frame, it's tied in to paragraph tags (aka
styles).
