It's a dialog box, but let's have a dialogue.

It's not a dialogue box.

IMHO.

It seems many of these word usage and grammar posts could be answered if one
would open a style manual, either AP or Sun's or Microsoft's. The one I use
(Microsoft) answers most of these questions, such as the earlier post on
displays.
