I've been doing technical writing for over 14 years, and my titles
included:

* Technical Writer (hardware and software industry)
* Documentation Specialist (Contract Pharmaceutical Marketing)
* Documentation Analyst (Banking and Finance)
* Methods Analyst (favored by shipping companies like UPS, Fed-X, etc.)
* Training Analyst (did not do one day's training, but did a lot of
writing!!!)

Now, I'm a Technical Writer/Consultant.

Seems different industries have different titles for technical writing.
But, whenever someone asked me what I did for a living, I always said
"technical writer." Personally, a spade is a spade. IMHO, some
companies play "musical titles" to skew the compensation matrix to their
favor.

Quite frankly, I prefer "Techncial Writer" to any of the other titles.
It's what I ACTUALLY do.
