I just checked a whole bunch of sites.
All of them have the basic text in black. (Blue is reserved for hypertext links.)
The sites are pretty evenly divided between TNR and Arial.
There was a big thread about the relative merits of serif and sans-serif fonts very recently.
My own opinion is, if it's going to include technical stuff, use a serif. This is for the simple reason that the i, l, and 1 characters are more easily distinguishable.
Just my 20 milli-Dollars.
