Just to add a little damper to all the enthusiasm ...
I'm an expat Brit. I've been living in The Netherlands since 1984,
but now I work in Germany for a Silicon Valley software company.
I've been trying to recruit a second writer for months but we keep
coming up against a major problem: work permits. America has made it
quite hard for Europeans to obtain work permits and (I'm sure it's
not a tit-for-tat but one does wonder) consequently it is becoming
increasingly difficult for non-EU citizens to get a work permit for
here. Once you've got it, don't assume you've got carte blanche, a
permit for one EU country does not give you the same cross-border
mobility that an EU citizen has.
