Subject:FrameMaker+SGML vs. Word From:Kathleen Melly <kmelly -at- HI -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 29 Oct 1998 16:41:53 -0500
Hello;
Our group is once again looking into Rational SoDA. They offer it for Word
or FrameMaker+SGML. Our doc group uses FrameMaker 5.5 for our regular docs.
The learning curve for the Word product seems to be less than the learning
curve for the FrameMaker+SGML product. I'm wondering if the benefits of
using FrameMaker+SGML versus using Word are worth the learning curve.
Especially when FrameMaker 5.5 converts Word documents rather well.
Also, does anyone know if you can open FrameMaker docs within
FrameMaker+SGML? When I try I get the message, "Although this appears to be
a FrameMaker+SGML document it can't be opened with this version of the
product". I've added all of the filters from the FrameMaker+SGML
installation CD. I've also tried the File/Utilities options but they appear
to convert FrameMaker+SGML to SGML (or vice versa) only.
