Yep. I have a couple of friends in the sign-making business, and they
use the word "signage" to refer to signs in the collective sense (one
sign, two signs, I am producing signage for Joe's motel chain).

Surprisingly, it's in Oxford: "n. signs collectively, esp. commercial or
public display signs." So it's "legal," although I think the email you
received should have read "Signs will be posted. . . ."

Unless the signage was being posted on the doorage?
