So why is it that our company has a BVQI 'Certificate of approval' clearly stating
ISO 9001 approval? (Proudly displayed in the entry).

And has, in the 'body' of the certificate:

"This certificate is valid for a period of three years from the date below..."

Yes, ISO approval does mean that you can produce the same thing consistently, even if its unsellable, or unuseable. As long as your procedures are documented and followed, then you are 'ISO 9000'. (certified and registered)
