Department: Product Engineering

Reports to: Director of Product Engineering

Location: Dordrecht, The Netherlands

 

This position is responsible for all aspects of the documentation process with regard to the creation, upgrade, and maintenance of SEAGULL products.  SEAGULL develops and markets software in the U.S. and the Netherlands.

 

Responsibilities include the following:

-- Write, design, and publish all customer documentation

-- Plan, schedule, and research new projects

-- Participate in internal technical and product discussions

-- Edit own work, including spell checking, copy editing, and proofreading

-- Establish and maintain productive relationships within the Product Engineering department

-- Revise documentation as needed

-- Create illustrations and screen captures in various formats

-- Archive source documents, illustrations, and output format files

-- Adhere to the company's writing style guidelines

-- Understand SEAGULL products

-- Assist with marketing materials, Internet pages, white papers, and text on CD-ROM

 

Job requirements include the following:

-- College or university education in Computer Science

-- Excellent skills in English and relevant technical writing experience

-- Solid verbal communication skills

-- Experience in documenting APIs (experience documenting client/server environments is preferable)

-- Good working knowledge of Windows applications, especially Microsoft Word and RoboHELP

-- Able to deal with deadlines and aggressive schedules

-- Experience in working with the World Wide Web

-- Knowledge and /or experience in Windows GUI look and feel, Microsoft Office, Windows (95/98, NT), etc.

-- Knowledge of IBM AS/400 or Unix, OO techniques
