Melissa asked:
"Did anybody out there ever have to read The Structure of Scientific
Revolutions by Thomas Kuhn?
"Anybody understand what he was trying to say?"

Steve Gillespie replied by pointing out that:
"...the most famous concept of Kuhn was the 'paradigm shift.'"

I would add two things:
1) Kuhn distinguished between "normal science" that takes place within the
structure of an existing scientific paradigm [model] and "scientific
revolutions" that overthrow old paradigms and introduce new ones.
2) Kuhn's theory is very popular with non-scientists but has been reject by
some of the top scientists in the world, including Stephen Hawking and
Murray Gell-Mann, Nobelist in physics.
