I don't think being a good writer or merely having some experience with some
tools is enough. For that matter, I don't think good people skills or the
ability to learn quick are enough. They're _all_ vital, don't get me wrong. But
in order to stay employed, you need to have and nuture a discriminator.

I'm a former programmer, and that's been a big part of the reason I've gotten
my last three jobs. It's also _the_ major reason I can pick and choose and be
somewhat picky about the money and opportunities offered me.
