Photoshop is my first response. You may have to futz with the mode before
jpeg appears as an option, though.
If you're on Mac, there's an excellent shareware program out of Europe
called GraphicConverter. Real cheap and handles all sorts of conversions
like a dream. I document a cross platform product (NT and Mac), but write
on a Mac. GC makes converting those bmp screenshots into picts or jpegs a
dream. I prefer it over Photoshop for this sort of thing. It also offers a
lot of other features.
