One thing you can do is to try and improve your processes. For example, can
you restructure your documentation suite to make it more efficient? Perhaps
there are some indexes that could use some sprucing up.
Maybe you can eliminate redundant procedures that appear in multiple
volumes. Search for screen captures that are a bit out of date.
Think about how to improve the look of the documents. Maybe a new style
sheet is in order? Or maybe you could play with resizing the pages and
changing the binding.
Another thing to look into is a file management program. Can you prevent
multiple writers from overwriting each other's work? Is everything backed
up regularly?
Slack time is the best time to conduct usability studies. Get out there and
find out what people want to see. Find out who reads your stuff and why.
Find out who doesn't. Get their opinions.
