They've been offered in the last several jobs I've taken or been offered.

BUT, unless your personal situation (such as single, no $ commitments)
allows taking a lower salary and more options, don't let the options decide
whether to accept a position. It's great if/when they work out, but don't
count on them. I believe that options are very common compensation
components in high-tech businesses, at least in Silicon Valley and here in
San Diego.
