Subject:Re: User friendly term for Metadata From:Michele Marques <mmarques -at- CMS400 -dot- COM> Date:Thu, 29 Apr 1999 09:29:54 -0400
pete swisher <PSwisher -at- QUARK -dot- COM> asked about user-
friendly terms for metadata (e.g., for custom data views).
I have a few suggestions:
information categories
information classes
data categories
variables
categories
types of information
Whatever you choose, I recommend that the first time you use the
term you explain, e.g.,: You may create data views based on any
information categories you choose, such as filename and filesize.
Your data view will only display those information categories that
you choose; the other information categories are hidden in your
custom data view (blah, blah, blah.....)
