Subject:alternatives to numbering From:Joanne Grey <j_grey -at- WRITEANGLES -dot- COM> Date:Fri, 6 Aug 1999 22:15:35 -0700
I wanted to thank everyone who responded to my request for an
alternative to section numbering - Lisa Higgins, Bill Burns, Geoff
Hart, John Posada, Howard Billington, Mark Dempsey, and "Dick
ampersandvirgule".
Unfortunately, for what my client wants, there seems to be no real
alternative. In order for the end users to refer to a specific chapter
and section regardless of the language and page numbering, section
numbering seems to be the only realistic way to do it.
Some of the folks gave me ideas about minimizing the look of the
numbering system, but that appears to be the only way.
The deadline for this doc set is still a month away, so if anyone has
any ideas in the meantime, *please, please, please* share! I promise to
post any good alternatives.
