There are at least a couple of websites available for getting educational discounts on software:
http://www.genesis-technologies.com/
http://www.ccvsoftware.com

Software can also usually be purchased in college bookstores for cheaper.

However, I think in both of these cases, you have to prove that you are either a student or an educator by some form of ID.
