Wiki as a documentation delivery system

My company uses a Wiki for internal documentation - mostly engineering
and user experience teams, but some from the marketing group and some
general company culture stuff.

People actually use it, mostly because (I think) the developers got
tired of answering the same questions repeatedly for newbies, wrote up
the answers for the wiki, and directed people there. Or possibly
because the project leaders set the fashion, or possibly because the
wiki was set up early in the company's life and contained useful
information.

So mileage really does vary.
