Hello,
<I've recently been commanded to abandon all the tools I've been using
for years (and know intimately) in favour of the Adobe Suite. I've also
been commanded to
"establish a timeline and list of resources that would be needed" to do
this.>
I had to do the same thing at a previous job. First off, I found the
Adobe Suite (except for GoLive) fantastic and once I got over my
reluctance, the conversion went swimmingly.
I had to convert a Corel Draw document into Adobe InDesign and
Illustrator. Here are the steps I took:
- spent a day or two playing with the different software packages in the
Suite and did some of the tutorials on the Adobe Support site.
- counted the number of pages of text and the number of graphics.
- spent one day converting (or copying and pasting) text and graphics
into InDesign and Illustrator.
- once I had a feel for what was involved, I then created an estimate.
I told my manger upfront that I could not give him an estimate until I
had completed the steps above. I had a very hard deadline and the
preparation work I did to familiarise myself with the Adobe Suite
enabled me to meet that deadline.
HTH,
Suzanne
