Lest we are tempted to go into the recurring "recruiters!" debate -- no,
no no -- may I just say that sometimes recruiter-types look for any kind
of differentiator that might make their candidates stand out from the
competition. A "certification" is an easy thing to point to, and in the
high tech world, there are plenty of other types of positions where a
certification carries weight, as we know. A good answer in this
situation is, "Certification is not applicable to technical writing,
besides, I AM my certification."
