Hi all!

I just wanted to give a short notice that I’m back on the list after a pause of half a year or so (which explains why my English got a bit rusty.)

Perhaps you remember me: I’m Jens from Germany and have been working in the field of conference technology from 2004 to 2006.
I left the list because my former employee closed and all the assets were sold to another company (in another part of the contry) where I got a fixed-term contract and changed my professional area from documentation to technical sales.
I will have worked for 8 months for the successor company when I leave at the end of September.

For those interested: Why the move to technical sales and away from it again?
First, I had difficulties finding another job. Second, they offered my a chance to do training, and that is what I want to do. Third, it never hurts to try out new fields of work, you always learn something interesting.
I learned that technical sales is not that hard for a technical writer: you know the product, you have learned to communicate clearly and successfully, and you probably know the tools of the trade (mostly e-mail, Excel and Word) way better than other sales colleagues.
The training part was fun, but I got stuck with doing the same thing over and over again and with not that much of support for the whole training thing from management than I expected.
So, as the contract came up for renewal, I looked for something else and am now moving to Berlin to work in the training branche of a project management company. There, I will be responsible for maintaining, improving and developing training materials for all national and international trainers this company has. And for this, I have some questions–in another post.
