IM instruction can be useful in environments where the subject
matter is so arcane and esoteric that the only way to bring
writers who don't have the technical background up to a level
of understanding that will enable writing would be send them
back to university for a post-grad degree. If you find yourself
forced to convert physicists and biologists into writers, IM can
serve as a crash course in structured composition for people
who tend to write in stream of conciousness.

I suppose IM is useful for a company that doesn't want to hire a
Technical Writer, but on the surface, IM looks so simple, I wonder why
anyone would pay for the services. Better to hire a TW on a contract
basis if you don't want one full-time.
