I agree that too many labels would probably be
counterproductive and cause people not to use
any at all. OTOH, as a non-MS Word and non-Windows
user, I'd certainly be thankful if people would
label specific tools questions with the name of
the software in caps at the beginning of the subject
line so people who don't use the tool immediately
know that the message is not relevant to them.
