3D Acrobat lets people view 3D models from design/drawing programs like Autodesk Inventor and Mechanical Desktop. The engineer/designer has to save each view in the design application. It would be like creating individual PDF pages out of a FrameMaker document and assembling them into a container PDF file.
The 3D viewer/reader can select the different views as well as turn layers on and off. The application also includes some measuring and notation capabilities. All these help those who need to review drawings as part of an engineering effort. If I recall correctly, the viewer lacks the ability to rotate the "part" in space.
