Gretchen...I do something that might interest you.

I live in NJ, about 90 miles from where I work. If I was to commute
every day, aside from $35 per day in gas (I drive a full-size
pickup), the time would be unacceptable (last Friday it took me 4
hours to do the 90 miles).

I do this by sharing an apartment 10 minutes from my office. Every
Friday evening after work I head home and come back up on Sunday
evening. I pay $500/month to split a 2 bedroom aprtment in an old
Victorian (with 9 foot ceilings, wraparound windows, HW floors, cable
and internet wireless access) in a REALLy nice area with a cool 30
year old kid, a manager at the local Cheesecake Factory. I leave at
7:30am and back at 8:30pm, he leaves at 1pm and is back at 4am...we
never see each other. sweet.

If I want to go into the city, I'm a 35 minute train ride into the
city.

BTW...EMC, where I'm at now, has some open reqs for employee
technical writer, if you are interested I can pass your resume.
