Good point. We sometimes forget that the recruiters need us even more than
we need them. Without good candidates to submit, they don't have a hope of
getting paid. It's entirely correct to establish the working parameters of
your relationship with the recruiter. They should be telling you where they
submit you to and provide feedback if they get any from the prospective
employers.
It's also a good idea to help the recruiter market you in the best way. By
letting them know your strengths, your preferences, and your deal-breakers,
you save their time and yours.

Plus, I want control over what companies I am being submitted to. If the
recruiter does not trust me enough to tell me what the company is, I don't
work with them. There are not many places that I won't go back to, but
there are a couple, so this can also save the recruiter a lot of
embarrassment.
