Any canned interview technique that an interviewer can learn, the

Lest we forget, the behavioral interview question is only one piece of the
process, which must still include a review of past performance via portfolio
samples, internet discussion group archives, and conversations with past
employers.

Depends on my exact needs, but in most cases I would select a writer who
needs some editing but has a good "plays well with others" record over the
best grammar guru with an obvious case of HUOB* Syndrome. As an experienced
interviewer, I should hope by now that I would have developed some ability
to identify HUOB or its warning signs somewhere within the course of a
preliminary phone interview, reference check, first interview, and callback!

Of course, one of the particular manifestations of the true sociopath is to
enjoy HUOB while almost perfectly masking it from others until convenient
for themselves. No system is perfect, sigh.
