Broken cross-references in PDFs

Dear Richard, Fred, Donna, and Shlomo,

Thank you all so much for your very useful information about the
problem of cross-references in text insets not being converted to
                           active links in PDFs.

For the short-term, I have successfully followed Richard's workaround
(Save all files; Convert text insets to text, taking care NOT to save
any files after doing so; Create PDF; Close all files WITHOUT
saving.). It was a fast and easy workaround and fixed 170 of 179
broken links! (The other broken links were not a result of the same
issue.) We may also take a look at Bruce Foster's Archive plug-in.

For the long-term, I have, for some months, been thinking about
Donna's suggestions for breaking the content into smaller chunks, in
order to minimize or eliminate use of text insets and conditional
text. That requires some reorganization of the document, taking into
account the issues noted by Shlomo (where chapters start, headers &
                               footers, etc).

Thanks again. You are all terrific!

                                  Regards,

                                   Carol
