The guy who popularized structured writing (Horn) founded the info mapping company. Info mapping is a commercial implementation of structured writing. However, I do not consider them to be equal.
Horn used to (still does?) say on the infomapping web site that structured writing is really all about analysis. Data flow diagrams are structured systems analysis.
