Acrobat 8?

Susan Hogarth wonders: <<Acrobat 8 is out. Should we rush to upgrade?>>
Depends... Are you suffering terribly with the current version? Does
8 offer any features that will prevent you from bashing your brains
out with the OEM DVD of Office 2000? Do you have a specific problem
you're trying to solve? Do you really feel a burning need to
contribute to the Adobe management stock option fund?
If not, stick with what you've got. Upgrades are only useful when
you're trying to solve a problem and know for a fact that the new
version solves that problem, whether by fixing a longstanding bug or
adding a feature you desperately need. Anything else is throwing away
your money.
In addition, it's worth noting that most new versions take at least
one service release (i.e., bug fix) before they settle down and
become usable. Adobe seems better than most in my experience, but
Microsoft (for example) routinely takes 2+ tries to get it right.
