Too old?

All of this talk of age and facial hair reminds me of a term I used too hear a lot when I worked in the defense industry. Companies would hire retired military officers or retired high ranking civil servants for consulting work on different projects. They were frequently referred to as "grey beards" and would often be teamed with younger engineers on projects.
