Knowledge is manufactured?

In this context, "manufacture knowledge" is a method of achieving
"translate from engineers," and the other TW skills such as layout and
spelling things rite are window dressing.

If we want to be seen as professionals, we need to create a real
conduit between user and product in more than one way, and more than
one direction. More than one way means we must no longer simply WTFM,
and more than one direction means we need to take user-based design
(interface, usability, advocacy, testing) and bring it back to the
engineers in a form they can understand.

It's a heady role but it beats being bored and bitter like most rotting
hulks of humanity I see in the big cities.
