Fw: The technologically challenged?

I'm 32 and have no use whatsoever for a mobile phone.  I work from home, the 
"land line" works just as well.  I don't want to be reachable at all times. 
My boyfriend thinks of his phone as a "leash" (he feels the same way as me 
about cell phones, but he needs his for work)   I'm really surprised the 
mobile phone has took off like it did - I've always abhorred the idea of 
paying for INCOMING calls....  with a land line, of course, you only pay for 
YOUR outgoing calls.  My sister is 19 and has repeatedly gone over her 
minutes and text messages in their "family plan".

Text messaging (I hate the term "texting") is ruining the English language - 
wasn't there a news story about teachers awhile back allowing text - type 
abbreviations to be used on school exams?

I however, adore gadgets, I adore researching gadgets, I adore figuring out 
and using the gadgets I buy.  MP3 players (Cowon iAudio and an iRiver (iPods 
aren't feature-rich enough) ) a Roku Soundbridge (for listening to Internet 
radio away from the computer - and this thing has had about three upgrades - 
and manual updates - since May) and my camera mentioned in a previous post), 
my Japanese-English electronic dictionary, these things are FUN!  There's so 
much to learn, to play with, to experience!  But cell phones I just don't 
get.  Paying for incoming calls!  <shakes head>  :)
