Dori and Jennifer,
Just thought I'd pass along a couple of other sites for checking for
reviews of digital cameras. There are a few that I have on my computer
at home, and I don't recall the names of all of them at the moment, but
I do remember www.steves-digicams.com and www.dpreview.com. Both of
these are really good and insightful, with very extensive reviews of
digital cameras and related equipment, including printers and cards.
When I was looking for a new camera a while back, I noted that both
rated the Kodak DX6490 very high and I got a price on it that was about
half the normal retail because Fry's Electronics had a misprinted sales
price in their ad (I think). It's been a very good camera for me, too.
There are replacements out for it now that are both higher in resolution
and in zoom range, but it works well for my needs at the moment. Until I
can get a D-SLR, that is! ;-P

This is a site with a lot of helpful information about the camera whose
manuals I discussed. In my search for camera, I was looking for these
specifics:
- Over 7 megapixels
- Video capability not limited (except for memory card size)
- Easy for a beginner to get a handle on, but with enough features so
that
that beginner can use it to learn to become more creative with
photography

Hope that helps!
