I can't speak for the original poster, but in my experience, "knowing
where to hit" is not that difficult and is included in that productive
time.
What we're doing is a skill, but is not insurmountable for a motivated
and intelligent person. Many of the people I've run into in life have
switched professions at least once, by dedicating themselves to the
months of study required to pick up the basics of their new calling.
