You could also have the designer export the CAD drawing to .dxf format. The resulting file can then be opened in Illustrator and edited.

I don't know about the CAD package you mentioned, but could you recreate
the layout in Photoshop? A tidy line drawing that shows the relative
position/size/shape of the components on the board can be better than a
busy detailed diagram. But of course, it depends on what your audience
needs.
