If you want PC and Mac support, browser-based help (aka Web help) is
probably your best bet, although as mentioned PDF is also an option.
With web help, as long as the system has a browser the user can access
the help system. (Getting it to display consistently on multiple
browsers can be tricky, but it can be done.)
Flare can create web help, and by way of Word or Frame can produce
PDFs as well.
You might want to check on the HATT list on Yahoo as well, since there
are many people there who deal with help systems regularly.
