"face time" at the office

If one espouses to the what Hackos and Reddish talk about in their book End-User Task Analysis, face time is sooo critical.   I know for what I do, good face-to-face relationship building is extremely important to gathering essential procedure.  
   
  Go to STC meetings.  Watch the social skills of the stay-at-homers.  Then watch the social skills of the heavy face-to-facers.   Then ask yourself who can best handle all the solicitations and walk throughs that are so critical in creating quality documentation.

   
  Additionally, I recently read in Business Week that face-time is critical to promotability.  Higher management has to see frequently how you react in adverse situations to promote you into the upper levels.
