Congrats!  The advice you received about amortization over an expected
3-year life was good, and reminded me that anybody spending money on
hardware or software used for their profession should spend a few dollars
registering a DBA at the county clerk's office to set up an official
business.  Or if you're using it mostly for after-hours help at a
not-for-profit, make it a donation to the NFP.

My brain just works that way; Dad was a Public Accountant (never certified
but certainly could have been).  If he had lived long enough, the two of us
would have given Matthew Lesko a run for his money.
