What I like about this is that the "pages" are appended to the end of the list. Makes it possible to scan through all of the hits if needed. Much better than having to keep hitting the back button. In my opinion that is. :-)
Getting back to searching tips--
On my own Web site, I can track referring pages (the page a visitor came from before going to my site). I'm often amazed at the search string that people used to arrive at my site. It often seems that a brief scan of the snippit of text that Google includes with each hit would be enough for a person to realize that my site and their search string are really not related, especially when they're jumping to my site from, say, the 35 page of search results.
For example, a common search I get is for Hower monkey. Why? I don't know. But it is. The snippit of text that google displays is as follows:
"Home page for Sean Hower, a technical writer, Web designer, and author working out of ... Technical Writer (default layout); Business; Punky Monkey; Western ..."
where Hower and Monkey are bold. It's really obvious to me that this site has nothing to do with the hower monkey. What gets me is that the searcher would have had to skip over sites that are clearly talking about the monkey to get to mine. I mean, I have nothing against monkeys--some of my best friends are primates--but this is a little silly.
I suppose I understsand this kind of behavior......Jakob Nielsen and others have had a handful of articles on the subject.....but it still surprises me some times.
Cheers.
